The Project:
The City of Lima set out to refresh a key downtown corridor along East Spring and Main Streets. As part of its broader revitalization efforts, the City identified improvements to the corridor’s traffic signal and lighting as an opportunity to enhance safety and strengthen the overall look and feel of downtown.
The Challenge:
As the roadway shifted slightly south, the existing signal and lighting infrastructure needed to be upgraded without blowing the budget. The City also wanted the corridor to flex beyond everyday use and have the infrastructure support festivals, events, and seasonal activities without cluttering the streetscape.
How We Helped:
Choice One Engineering worked alongside the City to identify opportunities to reuse existing poles, helping keep costs and disruption in check while modernizing the corridor. The team coordinated decorative enhancements such as flowerpots and banners, while also designing infrastructure to support food trucks, community events, and the vibrant downtown atmosphere the City envisioned.
The Result:
This downtown area now works just as well for daily travel as it does for special events, and supports the City’s vision for a welcoming, flexible, modern downtown space.
