We enjoyed the opportunity to come in and show the Industrial Arts class some survey techniques we use today!
"Surveying has been an essential element in the development of the human environment for so many centuries that its importance is often forgotten. It is an imperative requirement in the planning and execution of nearly every form of construction. Surveying was essential at the dawn of history, and some of the most significant scientific discoveries could never have been implemented were it not for the contribution of surveying. Its principal modern uses are in the fields of transportation, building, apportionment of land, and communications."

Kaye Borchers just returned from her 15-year Choice One anniversary trip with her husband Neil. They traveled through Billings, Montana, to reach Dryhead Ranch for a week of ranch work. During the week, they rode several of the ranch’s #horses gathering #cows and #calves, sorting #heifers, and pushing #mares into new pastures across the ranch’s 33,000 acres. In addition to gathering and moving #cattle on #horseback, they participated in #vaccinating and #branding #calves on their last day. They spent 6-8 hours in the saddle each day from about 8:30am-5:00pm, and slept in a cabin at the #ranch each night. During the week they enjoyed meeting other guests, getting to know the ranch’s full-time staff and #cowboys, and enjoying homecooked meals in the cookhouse. While in the Billings area they also checked out the Bighorn River and Canyon and Rimrocks State Park. Congratulation, Kaye! ... See MoreSee Less
