The existing single-span structure over Trotters Creek, rehabilitated in 1957, consisted of steel beams, wood deck, and asphalt wearing surface superstructure followed by a dual system substructure comprised of four primary steel bearing piles and secondary stone/concrete abutments. The existing stone/concrete abutments were built on a 22.5 degree left-front skew and supported a 23-foot wide and 43-foot-long bridge deck. The replacement structure was a single span, prestressed concrete box beam bridge on capped pile abutments with seven 62-foot beams creating a 28-feet wide bridge. The abutments were designed on an 8-degree left-front skew. The structure received new bridge railing as well as bridge terminal and anchor assemblies. Outside the bridge, minor roadway widening and grading work was performed to tie into existing site conditions.
