An Axe-cellent Afternoon

Elizabeth Odenthal: “I’d call that a success. Nobody lost a finger and Bigfoot found a family.”

Last week, Choice One celebrated another successful United Way campaign with lunch, axe throwing, and a healthy amount of friendly competition. Based on last year’s virtual golf simulator, we were all a bit nervous about letting each other chuck axes through the air, but ultimately no Choice Oners, or axes, were harmed.

During the event, Megan Bornhorst let her competitive side shine when she took to the throwing lane and Chuck Kluener impressed everybody by getting a bullseye on his very first throw. Meanwhile, Nick Selhorst was cheering for his team so loudly that we’re a little surprised he didn’t spill his drink. Again.

While plenty of memories were made inside, the day’s most unexpected highlight came outside, where Craig “Frizz” Frilling discovered a sasquatch statue and decided he needed a little Choice One green. After a quick makeover and group photo, he fit in surprisingly well. We don’t actually know if Bigfoot is interested in engineering, but at least he looks the part!
